Started on drawer 2 excel file. Begin at row 2 finished at row 19 (18 entries). Add-ins began at row 1209 and went to row 1218 (10 entries). A grand total of 28 entries.
I also inserted three columns for barcodes, and call number subfields.

Wednesday Jan. 30, 2013
Begin at row 20 finished at row 40 (20 entries). Add-ins began at row 1219 and went to row 1226 (8 entries). A grand total of 28 entries.

And now for a few unique covers:
Marketing tricks started early. Same song revamped cover art

Even in the past there was a choice of music platforms:

A catchy piece of art won't hurt sales:

One last thing. What do librarians do when not at a library? They go to book signings!

Sheet music collection Dec. 12, 2012 - Mary Sommerfeld

Working on the 5th floor, I worked on 25 records.

This included 20 (#865 to #885) entries found on the database, and five new entries added.

None of the items had bar codes assigned to them. My time sheet will need ajusting, taking away a

half hour.

There was one very striking cover:

Back downtown with my left arm out of the cast.
Working on the 5th floor, I worked on 25 records.
This included 23 (#841 to #864) entries found on the database, and two new entries added.
Only one record had a bar code assigned to it.  Some of the music had very nice covers.
Two very art deco in style

And one includes a sock knitter

Finally tis the season to count your blessings

Sheet music collection - Mary Sommerfeld 10/01/2012

Finally back on the 5th floor.
Due to repeatedly  having to check for music in multiple drawers, the final numbers are not very high.
Starting at Row # 785 I got to row #804 (19) and added in 6 new entries.
Total was 25.
Some lovely cover art. One from 1911 has an Art Deco feel to it.

A fun one was Walla-Walla Man. It's a spooky type of lyric. The bonus is on the back it has "Simple Instructions For Doing the One-Step."

Sheet Music Collection Sept. 18,2012 / Mary Sommerfeld

My work today was done from the collection housed on the 5th floor.
I added information to 30 data base entries (#754 to #784).
There were 3 items that were added to the data base.
Grand total of records for the day was 33.
The pattern of no bar codes on most of the items continues.

Housekeeping note, there was a wad of paper towels stuffed in the the women's toilet. I removed them, but maybe a notice should be posted about htis not being a good idea.

Some covers of interest. Even in 1923 New Yorkers had pocket doggies.

Here's one to make you either smile or cringe (depending on your tastes for bad movies.

Finally since tomorrow is "Talk Like A Pirate Day":

ARRRRRG MATEY!

Mary Sommerfeld July 19, 2012 Sheet Music Collection

126 catalog cards were entered into the database (lines 918 to 1044).

An additional column was added, it is labeled "Content Note". This will document information such as the names of individual songs in a collection. Each song title is typed in and than  followed by; space dash dash space (_--_) An example of this will be found on line # 934 in the second drawer database.

Mary Sommerfeld July 12, 2012 Sheet Music

Number of catalog cards entered 107, database lines from 667 to 774.

Two question about how  database information should be entered:
1. When entering page numbers what determines the use of parentheses or brackets?

2. In the subject area should it be song or songs in the phrase "Song(s) with piano." Both options have been used in the catalog.
